Charakteristika
The basic task of the Prague - Airport - Kladno ("PLK") railway connection project is a fast capacity connection of the city of Kladno with Prague and a direct railway connection of Václav Havel Airport with the centre of Prague. The synergistic effect of connecting the centre of Prague with Kladno, with a branch line to the airport, is considered to be a clear advantage of the railway connection to the airport compared to alternative solutions (metro, tram, train etc.). The Střešovice tunnels are an important part of this project. The Střešovice tunnels will be a total of 3.8 km long and will be located between the Prague-Dejvice and Prague-Veleslavín railway stations. Of these, 3.2 km will consist of a pair of single-track tunnels excavated using the EPB -TBM (earth shield) method.
